many of us have suffered in so many ways as a result of the wtbts.
i know intense pain, fear and loneliness as a direct result of the wtbts.
i have overcome most of it in life and am happy now.
Here's a bit of loving kindness and compassion, twenty years late.
All the best to you and your chosen family in the years ahead.

i changed my religion to hindu... (it was a jooookkkkeee).it should not have mattered seen as i dont have any nosey dubs left on my friends list.. i then get a phonecall tonight from a 'sister' in the congregation askin if it was true that i was a hindu?!!!
as i had it on my fb!!!
i asked who had told her this and she said she did not want to say, but i told her she should have got the person who had the question to ask me that rather than going to her!!!!.

Had my first taste of Seitan about a year ago in a vegie restaurant.
Delicious!
(And I'm not vegetarian, FWIW.)
So Syl, are you a Seitanist now?

i haven't shared this experience on here before (at least i don't think i have).
as many of you have gathered from my avatar (and from my big fat mouth that won't shut up), i am gay.
i do have an interesting gay experience right outside of the worldwide borg headquarters of the watchtower corp from about 17 years ago.. i'd just started graduate school -- had just finished my first year.
Your story doesn't surprise me at all. (BTW, per my long-time DFed gay brother, there were AT LEAST two closet gay Bethelites working in the 25 building at that time.)
I'm not quite sure how I feel about this next bit:
The December 2010 Awake, Young People Ask article on Homosexuality completely denounces the actions of those Bethelites.
Maybe 100 years from now, if the WT is still around, being a gay JW will be the same as a masturbating JW is now.
Anyway, thanks for sharing your story and I'm glad you're living life to the full.

ummm... just wanted to start a thread about this.. i would so want to get started....
serenitynow!: "OM, I don't get the lesbian joke."
The joke is based on two stereotypes:
1. Young, gay men are extremely promiscuous and not looking for a long-term relationship.
2. Lesbians are ready for a long-term relationship on the second date.
It was a bad, dumb joke to start with and now that I've explained it it's even worse.
*om backs slowly away remembering that om does NOT stand for Open Mic*
Keepin' my day job.

Joke I heard from my long-time DFed gay brother re: gay dating stereotypes. (BTW, he's been pretty monogamous for most of his adult life. Not that I care, but he doesn't fit the stereotype that follows.)
Q: What does a gay man bring on a second date?
A: What's a second date?
Q: What does a lesbian bring on a second date?
A: A U-Haul.
